Alexandra EXTER (1882-1949).
Blue, Black, Red. 1917-18. Oil and gouache on canvas. 120 by 80 cm. Private collection.

Exter was one of the first in the world to draw abstract pictures. We know this from the witness, well-known art critic Ya. Tugendhold. But from Kyiv these works disappeared and appeared as anonyms. I ask the current owners to lend one of them, the Blue, Black, Red, for the exhibition entitled Avant-garde & Ukraine. 1993.
